Book #1 in The Mystery Cavern Series
Santa Cruz, CA - October 1999 The ten year anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake has just passed, and a recent increase in earthquake activity is making everyone nervous about another big quake happening any day. George, Van, and Dino believe the quakes are related to the recent closure of the Mystery Cavern, a local tourist trap with daily tours, a bottomless pit, and resident ghost. While searching for clues and evading the mining company security goons, they find themselves trapped inside the bottomless pit. With the help of a mysterious blue light they find their way deep into the cave before stumbling upon a skeleton with a mysterious leather pouch containing gold nuggets and an ancient map. The problem is other people are searching for that map and pouch, and they’ll do just about anything to get it, even destroy the Mystery Cavern with George and Van still inside. It's George, Van, and Dino against the entire mining company, and the three of them just might be enough. |
